An exceptional silk Turkish rug, handwoven in Kayseri in central Turkey circa 1940 with an all over floral design interspersed with various animals and birds on an ivory field with fabulous secondary colours of pink, red green and gold. Finely woven with 7x7 knots per cm woven on a silk foundation. Note that some of the animals in the border are woven in metal thread.
Size: 2.22m x 1.51m (7ft 4in x 5ft)
This rug is in good condition with light, age related wear. The fringes and selvedges are secure and it has been professionally cleaned.
